Working from home is the new way of working?

Out of sight
In 2017 I was asked to give a presentation at Google FOOD Netherlands. The theme was “Making a healthy lifestyle more sustainable and dealing with stress”. When you see the results this has brought to the staff, I think many companies could be jealous of this. Despite the targets that Google employees must achieve, Google as an organization wants employees to enjoy coming to work and everyone to stay healthy.
Working from home
For many of us, working from home in the corona era was far from ideal. The children are at home and certainly not quiet for 8 hours a day. Sometimes the neighbors want to have a chat or it is noisy in the area. Still, working from home is also experienced as pleasant by a large group. Regular exercise, a healthier lunch and especially the rhythm. No resolutions but a fixed pattern. Breaking a pattern is not always easy. It takes a lot of energy and in case of disappointment you quickly fall back into the familiar pattern.

One of the things that can help you is to make a schedule. If you have a fixed schedule, it will become a habit faster and faster. Do the shopping on Thursday morning at 9:00 am. That way you have scheduled the day and the time. Also make a grocery note. Write in advance what you want to buy and especially where you want to buy it. Are the apples in the other shop 10 cents cheaper? Then remember that you have to go to that other store. And that takes time and effort.
Make sure you have tasty snacks ready. Don’t hide them in the back of the fridge, just put them on your desk. If you don’t work from home, put them in your bag and they are immediately visible. Examples of tasty snacks: celery, radishes, carrots, cucumber, bell pepper, grilled pumpkin or a piece of apple with cinnamon.
Last month I started giving korfball training again. They all bring their own water bottle with (Sports) water and know exactly how long the training will take. Despite the heat, we chose to resume training anyway. Why? The people have taken it into account and it is planned in their agenda. So do this now with your own sport. Whatever you do to relax, don’t let it slip away and start again!
A new habit starts with planning. Put your resolutions in your agenda. If your boss allows you to continue to work from home, this will save a lot of travel time. Spend that time well. Do something fun or just exercise.
Change of food
If you have worked from home in recent months and you are now allowed to go back to your company, change your new pattern as little as possible. Why would you get that fatty bite in the canteen again if you ate the healthier lunch at home every time. Why would you go to work by car now, if you increasingly used the bike? Cut out those things you haven’t missed. You don’t need them.
I have a healthy lunch twice a week with one of my business associates. Eating a healthy, tasty lunch together and talking about work at the same time gives a good feeling.

Tasty waffles
The smell of freshly baked waffles… how delicious is that? Airy, crispy and also warm. A warm waffle, that’s delicious! Do you want to make such a delicious waffle? Then try the recipe below. This recipe is gluten-free, vegan and very tasty.
What do you need?

Step 1: cut the avocado lengthwise and remove the stone. Puree the pulp in a bowl.
Step 2: Put the gluten-free flour, the sachet of vanilla sugar and the milk in a mixing bowl. Finally add the avocado and turn on the mixer. The avocado is the substitute for butter and egg.
Step 3: Now that the batter is nice and smooth in structure, you can start making the waffles. Bake the waffles in the usual way. I used a little coconut oil to grease the waffle iron.
